.. July 20th

While Linda is on vacation I am trying to fill the gap and keep you all informed ! As you all know Linda is Great with all of you and Loves to work with all of you. TODAY 7-20-10 we had a GREAT OUTING  and it is so refreshing to see how all you players and your Families come together at the park and have LOADS OF FUN !

Even when your Parents & Grandparents come to watch and those of you who bring the syblings along and they have a chance to play with you or at least come to watch you ! I have had a chance now to visit with all the teams and I am so PROUD OF ALL THE MANAGERS / PLAYERS AND REPRESENTATIVES WE HAVE RUNNING THIS ORGANIZATION in seeing how you all make sure each and every player is having fun ! THATS WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT !!  NOW : I would like to say to all of you that we would not even be here in this great park if it had not been for Bill Haslam the Mayor of Knoxville who Loves this Organizatkion and is very respectfull of all SENIORS !For 3 years I tried to get this program started and not one of the surrounding areas was even interested in talking with me. Not unitil I got in touch with this Mayor ! It only took a few minutes with him to know how much he wanted you all to have this LEAGUE ! He even made it possible for us to play in this GREAT PARK at no charge for the fields. HIS REMARKS TO ME WERE : BUD, I LOVE THE SENIORS AND WE WANT YOU TO HAVE THE BEST FOR PLAY AND YOU HAVE MY SUPPORT ! He is also a caring person for all those he represents and beyond ! So it was in Nov. 2007 that we got started and began playing in April 2008 ! Thats the kind of person I have become to know and hope you all have seen the same in him at our 1st Year Open House in Sept 2008 ! I hope that you all see in BIll Haslam the Goodnes in His Heart for all those he represents and give your support to him in the Aug 5th election and as GOv. in Nov. Some of you may have different views and that is OK too but just consider what he has done for us in this League of Play and asked nothing in return !

I AM AMAIZED AND ABSOLUTELY PROUD OF ALL OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE IN THESE GOLDEN YEARS WE ALL HAVE.  I am so grateful to see all of you coming together and having fun as a Family as I am sure the Good Lord would be Proud of you also !

KEEP ON HAVING FUN AND INVITE YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS AS WE CAN MAKE SOME EXCEPTIONS TO THE AGE LIMIT FOR THOSE WITH GOOD REASONS. !
Bud Nolan

.. June 29th

As you all know we are on vacation.  We stopped at a campground, Chris Flat, above Bridgeport, California.  The campground host was talking to us one evening and one topic that came up was senior softball.  He plays for a senior softball league in Yuma, Arizona called Can-Am Senior Softball. Their rules are different than what we play.  They have four outs and they don't bat all the players.  We have a great program.  I love the way the way that Knox Senior Softball plays!  If everyone didn't get to play, why would you want to come to the game.  Great planning went into this organization!  The guy thought that we had some great rules.  The reason it is called Can-Am is because there is so many Canadians that play along with the Americans.
A few of you have been staying in contact with us while we have been on our trip.  Thank-you!  I have heard that the shirts  arrived and everyone is happy with them.  Our program is growing and that is great.  I want to welcome the new players and I am looking forward to meeting you.

July is coming up and we have a few birthdays that I want to recognize.
July 6      Woody Farrell
July 15    Doug Broyles & Loretta Harrington
July 20    Robertta Gulanta
July 24    Steve Ramsey
July 31    Pat Davis
Happy Birthday to you all!

Our thoughts & prayers are with Nancy Nolan who has recently had a pacemaker installed.  Also to John Schmidt that broke his wrist and is unable to play at this time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again,
Linda

....June 28th

Our Special Events Person , Liinda Blaizer is on a 3 month tour of the USA and will be home again in Aug sometime. We all wish her and her Husband Dave, who Plays on one of our Teams, safe traveling and hope they make some new discoveries and have a lot of fun. The joy of this League is that players can be away on vacations etc. and not have to worry about letting a team down becausse of their non presence.
This has been a great season so far with a lot of new people and we encourage all of you out there to come join us. Our 4 new Sponsors Johnson Racing, Internal Medicines West, Southern J. Horseshoeing , and Karen Houses R-R-Ruff Life Dog Grooming have uniformed our 4 teams and our first and continued Sponsors the Karaoke Cafe and Fagan Jewelers have uniforms for us also. As we get new players we have extra uniforms for you !!  Please use these Sponsors whenever you need services that they can provide for you.
Caswell Park is one of the Best Complexes of 4 softball fields one can ever hope to play on.
Remember that Bill Haslam, the Mayor of Knoxville provided these fields for us to use at no cost in respect for we Seniors to help with re-gaining our Health while having fun doing  it. HE IS A CANDIDATE FOR THE GOVERNORSHIP OF TENNESSEE AND ALSO NEEDS OUR SUPPORT !!
We have some Special Events planned for later in the year before closing so please come join us for that fun. We can play through the month of October.
We would like to have some of you with infirmatives of disabilities to come on out as we make room for you also. We waive the age limit for that reason and others so come see our Gen. Mgr. Fred Bright, call or mail him at the numbers on the Web Site here and he will provide information for you. You also can come on out and see him on Tue and Thurs each week from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.as we play those days.

Wednesday April 14, 2010

What a terrific outing we had on Tuesday, April 13th,  the first day of the 2010 Knox Senior Softball!   I want to let
Joe Walsh & Norm Bragg know how much we appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedule to come by and welcome us back to another year of playing at Caswell Park. We had  46 to show up for the first outing.  Welcome back to all the former ballplayers and welcome to the 5 newcomers!  Jerry Dills, Field Director, and his crew did a fabulous job of getting the fields ready for us to play on.  What a beautiful park and well maintained!

The morning started out with getting everyone signed up.  This year everyone gets a set of rules and are to read it and sign the pledge saying they will play by the rules.  Also new this year, we have an emergency contact & medical information sheet for everyone to fill out.  The main purpose in this, is if someone passes out, gets sick and needs help or medical attention we need to know who to contact and any medical conditions or allergies.  Before anyone could play they had to fill-out the form for Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department along with a $10.00 fee for insurance.

As you all know by now we lost one of our loyal ballplayers on April 3, 2010.  Carson Barger passed away after fighting cancer for the last three years.  We held a small memorial service for Carson on the pitchers mound since he was one of the pitchers.  Floyd Welton led the service off in prayer.  Ron Lawson did  a dove release of 11 white doves and the 12th dove Evelyn Barger, Carson's widow, released in memory of Carson.  It was a very beautiful service and very touching.  Carson we know that you are still with us every Tuesday and Thursday looking down  on us.

All the members gathered on the bleachers and
Bud Nolan welcomed everybody back.  The newcomers were welcomed also.  Bud introduced the following:  Fred Bright- General Manager, Bob Rice-Assistant General Manager, Ed Bradley, Steve Ramsey, Charlie Shreve & Floyd Welton all team managers, Karen House-Board-Manager Players Representative, Billie Duncan (wasn't present)-Assistant Mangaer Player Representative, Dimple Thompson, Alex Marion & Betty Loveday-all player representatives, and Linda Blazier-Special events and web site.  Then he made the final announcement that everyone was waiting to hear 'LET'S PLAY BALL"!

Everyone is still welcomed to come out and join every Tuesday and Thursday with weather permitting at 9:30 A.M. at Caswell Park on Winona Avenue.   This league is for men 60 plus and women 55 plus.  Please contact the following:  Dave/Linda Blazier  865-621-3096, Bob Rice 865-573-2189, Bud Nolan 865-429-2044 or Fred Bright 865-675-3296.

Something new I will put on the website is the birthday list for each month.
Special thanks to Dove Release, 448-0896,  & Ron Lawson, 573-8693,  for the special service.

Carson Barger Our Dear Softball Friend

Carson came here to play today,
And saw a whole new field of play.
The uniforms were all so white,
With their caps of halos all so bright.
There were new and special friends,
Even Mikey was there with them.
C'mon out Carson was their cry,
Pitch this ball so fluffy and white.
Everyone hits a home run here!
In this house of the Lord we love so dear.
Where all is well with your new family of friends,
This is your new home now where life never ends.
Your earthly family was proud of your presence here,
A great player and friend we loved so dear.
So it is we "Shalom" to you this day,
Have a great time in your new field of play!

If anyone would like a copy of this please see me, Linda.

.April 8th

April 13th is just around the corner and it is time to get out to Caswell Park and play ball!   We are looking forward to seeing all the former players and newcomers out there at 9:30 A.M.    The forecast for Tuesday is suppose to be beautiful and in the upper 70s.  What a perfect day to play ball or be a spectator!  If there is anyone interested in playing ball please contact me or Dave @ 865-621-3096 or l_blazier@comcast.net.

The Knox Senior Softball is for men 60 plus and women 55 plus.  It is non-competitive and everyone gets to bat.  The purpose of the Knox Senior Softball is for health, recreation, meeting & making new friends.  Everyone there is like family and have a great time together.

On Saturday April 3 one of our fellow ballplayers, Carson Barger, passed away.  I was told at the funeral by his sister, Ouida, that Carson never did get to play ball when he was younger.  He always wanted to play ball but he had to work.  When he played ball out at Caswell he loved it and did a great job.  She said that he went out and got him a new bat bag and bat  just a few weeks ago because he was planning on playing ball this year.  We know that Carson & Mikey are up there in heaven playing ball together.  What a great team!   Our thoughts and prayers with Evelyn and her family at this time.

I will see everyone out at Caswell, the former Winona Park, at 9:30 on Tuesday April 13th.  Don't forget your glove!
Linda

........May 5th

I am wanting to let you know that we have lost one of our fellow ballplayers last night. Evelyn Barger called me this morning to let me know that Carson passed away last night at home.  They will be receiving friends Tuesday night from 5 to 7 at Click Funeral Home in Lenior City.  Funeral will follow at 7:30.  Bural will be Wednesday at 1 o'clock  at Lakeside Cemetary in Lenior City.

March 10

Even though the crowd was small at the get together at Karaoke Cafe, on March 3rd, we all had a great time!  A couple of our fellow ballplayers did great jobs in performing!  They, Fred Bright & Pat Davis, both might be heading to Hollywood on the next American Idol.  Bud presented medals to all the organizers, managers, the mayor, Bill Haslam & the others that help keep this great program running.  Thank -you Bud for this token it was very thoughtful and much appreciated.  I want to thank each and everyone that helped to get this program going and all the ballplayers that participate.   We need to recognize our two most loyal cheering ladies, Tommie Solomon & Mary Lay.  They have been very dedicated about coming out and cheering the teams on.  Thank-you Karaoke Cafe for having the Pre-ballgame get together.  Posters were distributed announcing about the Knox Senior Softball.

Did you realize that in less than 5 weeks it will be time to play?  We start the April 13th at Caswell Park.   I hope you have been out there recruiting more ballplayers for this year.  Remember Knox Senior Softball is non-competetive.  It is for men 60 plus & women 55 plus but with exceptions for those under that age with disabilities or handicaps that will allow them to play.  We play every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to noon with weather permitting.   All players get to bat, there is no strikes, balls or umpires.  You do not have to be a professional or even have played ball before to play Knox Senior Softball.
This is for FUN,  RECREATION, HEALTH, EXERCISE & MEETING NEW FRIENDS.

.Feb 02

I know everybody has got cabin fever and ready to get out there and play ball!  Spring is just around the corner and it will be time to get out to Caswell Park.  For the newcomers to our program we play Senior Citizen Softball every Tuesday & Thursday with the weather permitting.  Right now we are scheduled to start the second week in April.  We start practicing at 9:30 and start to play at 10.  We stop playing around 11:30.  This is a non-competitive co-ed games for men 60 plus and women 55 plus.  This program is for fun, exercise and meeting new people/friends.  Last year we had a couple to meet out there playing ball and they got married last fall.  The City of Knoxville provide these fields for us to play on at no charge as long as we play for fun & recreation and not competitive.  We  do not want anyone to get hurt by playing competitive.  Everybody gets to bat and try to make it to base.  There is no tag outs, rough or careless plays, no diving for the balls, running into the fences or each other or out of control  No tolerance at all for the use of illegal bats or hot bats.  There is no discrimination for race or physical ability.  We encourage everyone to come out to play or be a spectator.
There was a meeting held on Thursday, January 28th to discuss this years rules.  Everyone will sign a pledge stating that they read and understand the rules.  Each person will then get a copy of the rules to take with them.  At that time we will need to get the phone number to where they can be reached in case the game gets cancelled because of the weather.  There is a $10 charge for injury insurance.  There is no chargefor the uniforms, a shirt & a hat.  Uniforms are provided by sponsors and must be worn.  Uniforms will be issued after we find out who will be playing and what sizes are needed.
We encourage each one of you to get the word out about this program.  It is a great!!!  Once you play or see how it is played you will want to participate.  If there is any questions please contact:
  Bud Nolan  865-429-2044  pinkytwo1251@att.net
  Fred Bright 865-675-3296 frogcol@earthlink.net.
Linda/Dave Blazier 865-621-3096 l_blazier@comcast.net.   (That is lower case "L" not a one then underscore)
Please feel free to contact me with any comments or input.  Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone out at Caswell Park.

Hello...This is the first for me and I have some mighty big shoes to fill to live up to what Bud is use to doing.  Bud is wanting me to keep everyone informed on what is going on at the ballgames.  Bud has been very busy and tentative this year with Nancy.  As everyone knows she has been sick and he has been taking great care of her along with God & everyone of your thoughts & prayers.  They have all been appreciated and don't stop.  Bud & Nancy are great people and they have worked hard to get this program going at Caswell Park. Lets keep things going the way that Bud wants things to go and make this a great success.  We all  have fun at the ballpark when the weather will let us play.   For the newcomers next year and the ones that are thinking about playing I will tell you a little about what we do.  We play senior softball and it is for fun, non-competive, exercise and for meeting & making new friends.  You do not have to play ball in the past or be a runner.  We would love for the handicap to play also.  JUST AS LONG AS YOU ARE OUT THERE HAVING FUN, GETTING EXERCISE & HAVING A GOOD TIME---WE WANT YOU TO BE THERE AT CASWELL PARK. We play ball  every Tuesday & Thursday with the weather cooperating with us.  For all the former players please be out there recruiting your friends & family for next year.  As you know it is time for everyone to rest and spend time with there family & friends over the holidays.  A friend sent me an email that I would love to share with you.  I don't play ball with  any of you but I am a good spectator and I think of each and everyone of you as a friend and family.

The last game of the season was on the 15th of October 2009 and a very good season except that we had many rain outs yet we can be glad that our aqua furs are again loaded with water, lawns are green again and all else is well with our water table again. I guess we can all be grateful for that weven if at the expense of not playing. Be proud of your Managers and Player Reps. for doing some extra things this year for more fun. They put together a Tournament among the 4 teams , a Picnic at the Park, and did a Magnificant job of keeping things going very well with the play among yourselves. We are planning an outing at the Karaoke Cafe again this year so keep in touch with your Team Managers ( by phone or on the web site www.Knoxseniorsoftball.com ) so that we can get you information on that date. On the off season please contact your friends and neighbors and invite them to come play next year as it will even be better. Keep their numbers as precious as your bills or term life insurance documents, so we can have a bigger group next year. Talk to your Mgrs and Fred Bright on some of the ways we will extend the opportunity for others to play with us when they do not exactly fit the age limit. The plan this year was to have the Sponsors, News Media and others who support our play to have teams made up of their people ( without being in the age limit ) to show our appreciation for their support and all of you were excited about that. However the rain again did not co-operate with that but we will do that this coming season early on in the year and maybe twice !

YOU ALL ARE A GREAT FAMILY OF FRIENDS AND PLAYERS BEYOND THE JUST PLAY TIME. Nancy and I both thank you for your thoughts and prayers for her since the beginning of Aug as she was deathly sick with coumidin poisining and she is just now getting over it and almost back to normal again. We had a couple who met while playing with us and found the Cupid Arrow there and were married. I wont tell you who so that you will ask and then congratulate them. Any of you who have something you would like to add to the Web Site throughout the year please call me at 865-429-2044 and I will include it in our writings. Also if any one of you would like to take over the Web Site and write for our Player Organization please call me and I will get you set up to do that. Remember that there will always be something to  interupt those of us doing the work of the orgainization, such as we have had this year, and that means that we have those of you who step up and take those positions and keep things moving. Billie Duncan, stepped up for Karen House as Player Representatiive and did a Marvelous Job with the asistance of Dimple Thompson and your Team Reps. Alex Marion, Betty Loveday, Bob Rice, ! Gen Mgr. Fred Bright stepped up in my place and did a great job along with his Mgrs. Ed Bradley ( just back form heart surgery) Steve Ramsey, Charlie Shreeve, Floyd Welton, and all the rest of you who are so great at making this Softball League a Huge Success. Remember : We have a 3 tiered Organization that makes this all run : Commissioners : City Officials who provide Caswell Park etc for us, Board of DIrectors; made up of 6 people who got the League formed, Gen. Mgr. over all the Player Mgrs.and field play along with the 4 Field Mgrs. who are the ones who make the engine run  smooth. So sometime along the way give your Gen. Mgr and the Field Mgrs. a good word about the Great Work they do or this League would not run as well as it does.
I will try to keep you informed of all that goes on but please keep in touch with your Managers so they can count on you next year.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR YOUR FAMILY ATTITUDES SUPPORTING THIS FUN, RECREATION AND HEALTH PLAY.
My E-Mail is always open for comments from all of you ! Pinkytwo1251@att.net.

We have had several sicknesses , one death, and yet it all continues to run like clock work because of these great Volunteers who make up what we call our Softball Families. We have had cupid to put his mark on a couple that met her playing this game so you can see we have a little of everything and this Organization is Perpetual and gives the City of Knoxville the opportunity to offer this program to anyone who fits the Senior Age limit, along with some that dont.

We play by Special Rules that prevents players from getting hurt and that all play and bat each game inning. Come watch the fun on the 16th Sept and maybe you wil get interested in joining us. To join just ask any player who to see and or call or mail those listed on this web site. There is no charge for playing and all you need is to have the interest in coming to play as there is no criteria, other than your interest,  that makes you one of us. You can still play this year or let us know your name and we will contact you next season. THANKS TO THE CITY / MEDIA /  SPONSORS AND OUR WHOLE ORGANIZATION OF PLAYERS FOR A GREAT YEAR. YOU ALL HAVE  DONE AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF RUNNING THIS PROGRAM FOR FUN-HEALTH AND RECREATION FOR OUR SENIORS.
God Bless you all !

August 4th

...Today was a reasonable outing but we had to mix teams to have enough for 4 teams. This is the best weather time of the year so we encourage all signed and those who want to play to come on Tue & Thur for the other months now thru Oct. Some of you have to go back to school etc so if you are one of those please let your Mgr. know.

...We have just made a new position of  SPECIAL EVENTS, Chairperson for the purpose of spicing things up a bit at the field play and for handling Special Events. These will be fun things that will make you all want to come and play at each game! We are in the planning stages of having the Mayor of Knoxville, Bill Haslam, getting together some of his personnel to make up a team or just players , along with sponsors and media personnel to do the same and come and play our team or teams on a Special Event  "EVENING " at Caswell Park. The age limit is all waived for this event to those who will come to play our teams. This will be a fun adventure where you can come and see all these people you have read or heard about in the news.

...Another event will be to have a small tourney among our teams for the purpose of honoring MIKEY Waggoner , our fine player who passed away this year ! So we are doing things to keep you all interestd and happy besides the playing of softball. We have a great Organization voluntarilly working for you to come have FUN-RECREACTION AND HEALTH !

...Our new Special Events person has been with us from the beginning as a spectator watching her husband Dave play as the both are great supporters. She is Linda Blazier, outstanding person and friendly with everyone, who will take on the task of keeping you all involved and happy. Her E-Mail is,  l_blazier@comcast.net, and she reports to the Board of Directors and works with the Mgrs. and Player Reps.. Please use the _ underscore between the l _  as it does not show on the highlighted version. We appreciate Linda taking on this responsibility and working with the other folks in this Great Organization that makes it run so well.

July 2nd

Today was another Great Day at Caswell Park and beautiful weather. We are having good numbers of players out that can make up 4 teams for play. HOWEVER WE NEED TO HAVE 26 MORE PEOPLE TO MAKE IT 6 TEAMS. We had 3 new men players whos names I will put on next Tues mail ! One of the greatest events of this year and our time from last until now was on Tue when we had an announcement from Glenn Davis and Pat Roberts that they were engaged ! WOW ! just think these two met at the park playing ball and Cupid brought them together. Now the rest of you take heed and come on out as this bug might also strike you. Congratulations to them and we are happy that this game of softball brought them together. We have aded 2 new people to the Players Representative task as we are growing and in need of help. Billie Duncan as the Lead Rep and Dimple Thompson to assist in keeping thing organized. Both doing a Terrific job. Our original Karen House is still on our Board and a rep. but she is out of commission temporarily. All you who are out there and thinking about joining us just come to Caswell Park on Tue-Thur at 9:30 and see Billie Duncan or DImple Thompson to get you ready for play.  We will play through Oct so plenty of time to have fun.

June 23rd

Senior Softball Players and New Interested ones.

We have had a terrible start this year as the rain has taken its toll on our play. However Please do not get discouraged as we have play through October and a lot of time left. Rain often delays our play since it is in early morning but the other side of that coin is that we have these fields at no cost to us. Often times those who play in the evening have the fields to dry out in time for their play but they all pay $250 a half season or $500 for that privilege ! So Please keep the faith and we will see you on Thur the 25th June at the 9:30 am time again. We also can be thankful for all these nice rains after having the shortfall the last 3 years. ALL THOSE OF YOU WHO WANT TO PLAY BUT HAVE NOT BEEN WITH US COME ON OUT WITH YOUR GLOVE READY TO PLAY.
Bud Nolan , Director

June 15th

SORRY ( all players ) but the CIty is having baseball tournemants on the fields at Caswell Park this week. This happens every year but came sooner for some reason this year. We cannot complain as we get those fields for no cost for the whole season. The rain has not  been very co-operative yet so we have missed a lot of play time. Steve Ramsey is calling all the Mgrs. and hopefully they can get to you before coming to the park. So rest up and be ready for June 23rd and 25 to get into the swing of things again. We have other players indicating that they wil be back with us soon so we should have some full teams. We aplogize to all of you but be ready for next week.
Bud Nolan, Director

June 2nd

Today Tue was another good outing with more than 52 players or 4 teams to play. Two of the teams had a full compliment of 13 players and the other two had to borrow from the first two to have 12 players to each team. Thanks to some of the new players who came in for the first time. We have uniforms and caps for  ( 6 ) - 13 player teams or 78 people. Our problem is this : we need to shirt and cap 13 identified players for each team and have done that. However if 3 or 4 of each team does not show up to play then we have a mix or shortage of others to make up full teams. While that in itself is OK and we expect to have those who cannot play each Tue-or Thur we need to know from those of you who cannot play at least once per week to identify yourselves to the Manager so that we can plan for that. What we will do is issure you a different shirt and cap ( Green or Yellow ) which then means you can play every time you come to play but as a fill in until we can have a total of 6 teams. This makes it easier for the Managers to control who is on their team regular and who is not. Right now we have plenty of shirts and caps but they are un-balanced because of absentees to play. We intend to play and bat everyone as our rules provide but in a more efficient manner. We are getting some of you back that are done with your teaching roles and other things etc.so would those of you who intend to come back this year Please call your Manager or Bud Nolan as indicated on this Web Site so that he can make arrangements for team assignments.

Also enlist your friends and neighbors to come joing us as we have plenty of room for them to play. If their age limit is questionable tell them to come anyway and let us work that out for them. The weather is now much better so come on out. Any questions just call or E-Mail the addresses on this Web Site.

COME AND HAVE FUN WITH US AND IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH !

Bud Nolan, Director.

May 22nd

Today was another good outing and we had 4 complee teams which makes play easier. We , however , appeal to those of you who played last year and are new this year to make a real effort to come an play at least one came per week. It is very difficult to have team play with so many not coming that have signed up ! One does not have to be there all the time but just show your Manager the courtesy of letting him know that you will not be there. If you have been issued a uniform for a particular team and cannot play regular PLEASE give that uniform to your Manager in return for another one that we have for team building. That does not affect your playing only to let the Manager have a full team most of the time for play. You can even play on that same team if there is an empty spot. Rain has been a factor in getting all of you there but that should change shortly.

NEW : we are going to try to let those of under age 55 women and 60 men , who have some kind of handicap or physical reason to come play with us. However that will be done on an individual basis by the Managers. If you fit this area Please call Bud Nolan, Director, 865-429-2044 or mail pinkytwo1251@cs.com to get the details.

PLAYERS : see if you can encourage friends  of yours to come and play as we want to fill 26 slots with two more teams before the summer is out.

May 19th

Tuesday was another good outing with 4 full teams and about 56 players. However  we would like to ask that all of you who played last year to come join us again so that we can field 6 full teams. We have a lot of new players interest so if all the last year players would show up we would have 6 full teams. I would like to ask you who have been suited in the new uniforms this 2009 year PLEASE come to play so that we can get an inventory of players to put on teams. If you have chosen not to play PLEASE bring back the uniform so that we will have enough to suit all the others.

ALL OF YOU WHO ARE LAST YEAR PLAYERS AND THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING "PLEASE" COME TO THE PARK ON TUE OR THUR AT 9:30 AM TO GET SUITED TO PLAY. We are like a family and all have fun playing this Fun-Health-Recreation style of play.
SEE YOU AT THE CASWELL PARK !!
Bud Nolan , Director

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE AGE BRACKET , BUT HAVE AN AILEMENT OR NEED HEALTH AND RECREATION IMPROVEMENT , COME TO THE PARK AND LET US TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF YOU PLAYING WITH US.

.

.........May 12th

Today was a sad day at the Knox Senior Play as we heard of the passing of Mikey Waggner, one of our Arden, Loved and Most Respective players ! He was a joy to play with and had the admiration of all we players. Our loss is God's great gain in his kingdom. A memorial prayer was given by all for his new home in softball.

We had 4 teams of about 40 players which is 13 less than we should have with 4 teams. Our sizes has dwindled and most probably because of the weather lately. So our plea is to all who played last year to regain your interest and come play again so that we can get to the 8 teams we want to have in play. We have uniforms for a full 6 teams of 78 players. We have 16 new players to help close the gap

All of you who played last year Please call your Manager or the people on the web site to show your interest in playing again this year. FOR ALL NEW PEOPLE : Please come to the Caswell Park at 9:30 am on each Tue and Thur prepared to play or just join in the fun with us. You can also use our website : www.KnoxSeniorSoftball.com to talk with ones listed there about playing also. No cost to play on the Beautiful 4 Softball Complex at Caswell Park. One annual fee of $10 for the whole season April thru Oct for Insurance only that the city requires to help with any injury you might receive. Bats-Balls-Uniforms etc. furnished so just bring your glove . If you are unsure about play just come and watch the others and then make up your mind. WE MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU !
Bud Nolan, Director

May 7th

Sorry that the weather has not co-operated with out last 2 outings but nevertheless we should be glad that we have had the good rains. We have a lot of time through October to take advantage of having fun-health and recreation.

We have all new shirts and caps for this season for 6 teams of 13 players and 4 teams have already been formed so all of you last year players and welcomed new ones please come to Caswell Park on Tue & Thur at 9:30am and get put on your teams for play. New Players REMBER: You need not have any experience to play wIth these teams :ONLY THE DIESIRE TO COME / PLAY AND HAVE FUN FOR YOUR HEALTH IMPROVEMENT. No Cost to you other than the one time fee of $10 for the whole season to insure you against injuries. The City has that Insurance program and manages it for you. For you computer bugs go to  : www.KnoxSeniorSoftball.com and read all about us and click on the Rules Area that explains all about our play. We have 60 signed players so come and make up another 48 for the season. You do not have to commit to every game time etc as our Team Mgrs. have that all worked out. Join in meeting new friends !!
Bud Nolan, Director

April 23rd

Today ,Thursday April 23rd was another good outing but we also lacked a lot of players from last year and some of the new ones just signed up ! We had 4 teams of players, not complete teams, but we have more than 80 signees to play.

For all of you who want to play on a Selected Team you need to come on the 28th as the Teams will be chosen and uniforms issued to each player ! After that a player will go into the POOL of Players and then be placed on another Team until we have reached 6 teams. Once we have 6 teams we will then continue on to whatever number of players come to play and then get more uniforms. We can go to 104 players or 8 teams that can play on all 4 fields at the Park.

April 16th

Thurs the 16th of April found about 50 people out to play and some 13 were new players of which 9 were Ladies and 4 Men.

For all of you who were last year players be sure to come to Caswell Park on this Tue. April 21st at 9:30 and go to your last year Manager and get signed up or you will  risk having to go to a new team. We have the new uniforms on hand but will hold releasing them to players until we have you signed to a team. Many new players are coming in so we hope to have a compliment of two new teams.

If it looks like rain call 215 INFO or your manager or anyone on this web site. If you cannot reach anyone and it looks like rain where you are then do not take the risk of coming to the park. We play every Tue and Thur at 9:30 so be sure to come soon so that we can get you all on teams.

COME HAVE FUN AGAIN WITH US AND ALL NEW PEOPLE ARE  WELCOMED.

.April 14th

Well / The rain played tricks on us again as we could not use the fields for play. However we had about 30 who showed up and we had our organizational meeting under the cover of the clubhouse area at Caswell Park Fields. We had 4 new Lady players and 2 new men to come that were indoctrinated on how we play. Gen Mgr. Fred Bright, and his Mgrs. Ed Bradlley, Steve Ramsey, Charlie Shreeve and Floyd Welton all made the new people and there last year players welcome. Jerry DIlls, the Athletics Mgr for the CIty gave all players the insight on how the City sponsored the Fields and the rules governing the use of them.

David Grimes
from the Cafe was taking pictures all this time. The Karaoke Cafe owners and Sponsor , Debi and Norbert Stovall , furnished a Great Buffet Style of food for all after the meeting so all who missed this event also missed the great food.
Debi Stovall
and her crew from the Cafe organized and presented all this Great Food for us to enjoy. The Special occasion for a Birthday Cake was for her Father Bud Nolan and her Aunt Marie Riddle , Buds sister, from Ohio. Bud Celebrated his 80th, 4-14-1929 and his SIster her 82nd on 4-19-1929 and Buds wife of 47 years was there to celebrate along with all the rest.

Be sure that all of you players and interested ones come on Thur the 16th of April at 9:30 am at Caswell Park for the first round of play. All you need is a glove. It is supposed to be a nice day for that outing. Tell your friends and neighbors to come along and enoy the fun.
COME JOIN US !!
