May 22nd

Today was another good outing and we had 4 complee teams which makes play easier. We , however , appeal to those of you who played last year and are new this year to make a real effort to come an play at least one came per week. It is very difficult to have team play with so many not coming that have signed up ! One does not have to be there all the time but just show your Manager the courtesy of letting him know that you will not be there. If you have been issued a uniform for a particular team and cannot play regular PLEASE give that uniform to your Manager in return for another one that we have for team building. That does not affect your playing only to let the Manager have a full team most of the time for play. You can even play on that same team if there is an empty spot. Rain has been a factor in getting all of you there but that should change shortly.

NEW : we are going to try to let those of under age 55 women and 60 men , who have some kind of handicap or physical reason to come play with us. However that will be done on an individual basis by the Managers. If you fit this area Please call Bud Nolan, Director, 865-429-2044 or mail pinkytwo1251@cs.com to get the details.

PLAYERS : see if you can encourage friends  of yours to come and play as we want to fill 26 slots with two more teams before the summer is out.

May 19th

Tuesday was another good outing with 4 full teams and about 56 players. However  we would like to ask that all of you who played last year to come join us again so that we can field 6 full teams. We have a lot of new players interest so if all the last year players would show up we would have 6 full teams. I would like to ask you who have been suited in the new uniforms this 2009 year PLEASE come to play so that we can get an inventory of players to put on teams. If you have chosen not to play PLEASE bring back the uniform so that we will have enough to suit all the others.

ALL OF YOU WHO ARE LAST YEAR PLAYERS AND THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING "PLEASE" COME TO THE PARK ON TUE OR THUR AT 9:30 AM TO GET SUITED TO PLAY. We are like a family and all have fun playing this Fun-Health-Recreation style of play.
SEE YOU AT THE CASWELL PARK !!
Bud Nolan , Director

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE AGE BRACKET , BUT HAVE AN AILEMENT OR NEED HEALTH AND RECREATION IMPROVEMENT , COME TO THE PARK AND LET US TALK TO YOU ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF YOU PLAYING WITH US.

.........May 12th

Today was a sad day at the Knox Senior Play as we heard of the passing of Mikey Waggner, one of our Arden, Loved and Most Respective players ! He was a joy to play with and had the admiration of all we players. Our loss is God's great gain in his kingdom. A memorial prayer was given by all for his new home in softball.

We had 4 teams of about 40 players which is 13 less than we should have with 4 teams. Our sizes has dwindled and most probably because of the weather lately. So our plea is to all who played last year to regain your interest and come play again so that we can get to the 8 teams we want to have in play. We have uniforms for a full 6 teams of 78 players. We have 16 new players to help close the gap

All of you who played last year Please call your Manager or the people on the web site to show your interest in playing again this year. FOR ALL NEW PEOPLE : Please come to the Caswell Park at 9:30 am on each Tue and Thur prepared to play or just join in the fun with us. You can also use our website : www.KnoxSeniorSoftball.com to talk with ones listed there about playing also. No cost to play on the Beautiful 4 Softball Complex at Caswell Park. One annual fee of $10 for the whole season April thru Oct for Insurance only that the city requires to help with any injury you might receive. Bats-Balls-Uniforms etc. furnished so just bring your glove . If you are unsure about play just come and watch the others and then make up your mind. WE MAKE IT EASY FOR YOU !
Bud Nolan, Director

May 7th

Sorry that the weather has not co-operated with out last 2 outings but nevertheless we should be glad that we have had the good rains. We have a lot of time through October to take advantage of having fun-health and recreation.

We have all new shirts and caps for this season for 6 teams of 13 players and 4 teams have already been formed so all of you last year players and welcomed new ones please come to Caswell Park on Tue & Thur at 9:30am and get put on your teams for play. New Players REMBER: You need not have any experience to play wIth these teams :ONLY THE DIESIRE TO COME / PLAY AND HAVE FUN FOR YOUR HEALTH IMPROVEMENT. No Cost to you other than the one time fee of $10 for the whole season to insure you against injuries. The City has that Insurance program and manages it for you. For you computer bugs go to  : www.KnoxSeniorSoftball.com and read all about us and click on the Rules Area that explains all about our play. We have 60 signed players so come and make up another 48 for the season. You do not have to commit to every game time etc as our Team Mgrs. have that all worked out. Join in meeting new friends !!
Bud Nolan, Director

Today ,Thursday April 23rd was another good outing but we also lacked a lot of players from last year and some of the new ones just signed up ! We had 4 teams of players, not complete teams, but we have more than 80 signees to play.

For all of you who want to play on a Selected Team you need to come on the 28th as the Teams will be chosen and uniforms issued to each player ! After that a player will go into the POOL of Players and then be placed on another Team until we have reached 6 teams. Once we have 6 teams we will then continue on to whatever number of players come to play and then get more uniforms. We can go to 104 players or 8 teams that can play on all 4 fields at the Park.

April 16th

Thurs the 16th of April found about 50 people out to play and some 13 were new players of which 9 were Ladies and 4 Men.

For all of you who were last year players be sure to come to Caswell Park on this Tue. April 21st at 9:30 and go to your last year Manager and get signed up or you will  risk having to go to a new team. We have the new uniforms on hand but will hold releasing them to players until we have you signed to a team. Many new players are coming in so we hope to have a compliment of two new teams.

If it looks like rain call 215 INFO or your manager or anyone on this web site. If you cannot reach anyone and it looks like rain where you are then do not take the risk of coming to the park. We play every Tue and Thur at 9:30 so be sure to come soon so that we can get you all on teams.

COME HAVE FUN AGAIN WITH US AND ALL NEW PEOPLE ARE  WELCOMED.
Bud Nolan, Director

.April 14th

Well / The rain played tricks on us again as we could not use the fields for play. However we had about 30 who showed up and we had our organizational meeting under the cover of the clubhouse area at Caswell Park Fields. We had 4 new Lady players and 2 new men to come that were indoctrinated on how we play. Gen Mgr. Fred Bright, and his Mgrs. Ed Bradlley, Steve Ramsey, Charlie Shreeve and Floyd Welton all made the new people and there last year players welcome. Jerry DIlls, the Athletics Mgr for the CIty gave all players the insight on how the City sponsored the Fields and the rules governing the use of them.

David Grimes
from the Cafe was taking pictures all this time. The Karaoke Cafe owners and Sponsor , Debi and Norbert Stovall , furnished a Great Buffet Style of food for all after the meeting so all who missed this event also missed the great food.
Debi Stovall
and her crew from the Cafe organized and presented all this Great Food for us to enjoy. The Special occasion for a Birthday Cake was for her Father Bud Nolan and her Aunt Marie Riddle , Buds sister, from Ohio. Bud Celebrated his 80th, 4-14-1929 and his SIster her 82nd on 4-19-1929 and Buds wife of 47 years was there to celebrate along with all the rest.

Be sure that all of you players and interested ones come on Thur the 16th of April at 9:30 am at Caswell Park for the first round of play. All you need is a glove. It is supposed to be a nice day for that outing. Tell your friends and neighbors to come along and enoy the fun.

February 12th

This is our second year for the ( www.KnoxSeniorSoftbal.com web site ) and we have a Re-Organization of people to make this Organization run smoother. We are divided up into teams of 13 people each who have their own Manager and will play for them at each outing ! Last year we had 76 people with 27 Ladies playing and all had fun and recreation. This year we are looking for 104 people or 8 teams to play. All new people will be assigned to a team Manager as they come forth.
You only need the desire to play with no tryouts etc. only to come and play for Health and Recreation. We play at the Caswell Park Complex which the City of Knoxville has provided for us. ( Great Complex of 4 fields ) There is no charge for play and we furnish uniforms for each player. There is a one time charge of $10:00 per player for total coverage of Insurance against injury ! This is a City requirement and provides  Insurance for the Total Year or Season. Handicapped people are also accepted under certain conditions.
We will start play the 2nd week of April on Tue / Thur from 9:30am to 12:00 noon !
Walk ons are accepted any time throughout the year but those of you who are interested should call and sign up for play. You will have a new team of which all are made up of a mix of males and females on each team. Those of you have played last year and were assigned to a team should also call your Manager to get back on the same team.
All new intended players should call anyone of the 4 Managers of Field Play listed below or you can just walk on during the season. You can come and visit the Players and make a decision to play later or at that time so bring a Glove and Bat if you have one ! Balls and Bats are furnished so you only need a glove to play. You may also contact the E-Mail addresses of those  Board Members liste below.
DONT MISS OUT ON THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY ! Last year the youngest was 55 and the oldest was 85 and all improved their health in playing.
FUN AND RECREATION IS THE GAME / NO REGIMENTATION !!

Bud Nolan , Director

December 13th

While sitting here at home and having a bout with the Gout I realized that April is just around the corner for our 2nd year of play. We had a very successful year with the great Managers Fred Bright / Ed Bradley / Steve Ramsey / Charlie Shreve and Floyd Welton looking after all of you in seeing that you all got to play on a team and withini our scope of Purpose !  Karen House your Player Rep. and Charlie Allen your Chaplain made sure all your needs were met and Organized the New Walk on Players in seeing your were put on teams. Your Director Board and the Mayor and his Officials made sure of having the GREAT FIELDS OF CASWELL PARK TO PLAY ON ! We need you all, including the players, to be thinking about any way we can improve the fields of play etc over last year. We had several Uninform Changes and other things that made things better.
Sponsorship : We had Great Sponsors in the Karaoke Cafe and Fagen Jewelers last year with the Super Shirts and Caps provided but we learned that we should have bought Single Uniforms as we formed teams of 13 players ! One Shirt and 1 Cap worked well but the colors were mixed within teams. I want you Managers to think about having 13 shirts and caps for each team with the shirts for each team being a different color or any other suggestions you might have. We can use the last year red and blue shirts & caps for 2 teams or 26 players and then get 6 more sets of 13 shirts and Caps for the growth to 8 teams. Need your comments !! OR we can get 8 teams of 13 shirts and caps all new if we can get the Sponsors ! In shopping around I find that we can get new sets of 13 shirts and caps for about $20.00 per set or $260 per team, much less than last year, for the Fagan and Karaoke if they want to sponsor again as there is no charged for Name and Lettering for that cost was already born last year !  For any New Sponsors the one time cost is $20.00 for the name against as many teams that they want to sponsor. Meaning that the cost for one team would be $260 + $20.00 or $280 per 13 shirts and hats. Any more of 13 team shirts etc.after  would then be $250 per team. I am sure you all have some Ideas so bring them forth.
Remember you Managers are the key here to what you want to do as it was Perfectly Successful last year with your running of the teams.
Last year was the Organization year but NOW YOU ALL ARE THE BOSSES. We will support all that you want to make it even more successful but your are the Leaders. Also think about the times and dates you want next year as that has to go before the City Office , Joe Walsh Director ! I will get a Meeting date set up at the Cafe and then the entertainment and food after the meeting, like the end of the last years October one, and we need to invite any new prospects that you may have and especially Mayor Haslam and his Staff ! Hopefully the 1st week in Feb.
Knowing all this now we need to get all those you might know Business People etc and see if they want to become Sponsors. This is a bad time for Business people and we might want to defer all that and do what we did at last years end until things improve. WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ? Just remember that April is soon to be here and we need to get our thinking caps on.
God Bless you all for the Great Work you have DONE and your reward will be plentiful in taking on this TASK of serving SENIORS !
Bud Nolan , NANCY AND I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF THE HOLIDAYS !!
P.S. Nancys Dialysis treatments are going fine and she fee
ls much better and Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for her it sure helped her and me !

October 17th

WHAT A GREAT SEASON WE HAD AND THE CULMINATION WAS THE MAYORS OUTING FRIDAY THE 17TH OCT.
Mayor Haslam brought Senator Alexander over to the playing field and introduced him to our players in showing him the Great Program we have going for Seniors. The Senator was amazed that we had such a great Organization. We will begin again next April and your Managers will call you as you all will remain on their teams. Please recurit more players as we would like to have 6-8 teams next year.
THANKS-THANKS-THANKS to all of you players for your great play and help with those who needed to get in the swing of things. To the Board of Debi STovall, Colleen Adair, Karen HOuse, Fred Bright, David Grimes, to Fred Bight for his General Management of the Team Mgrs. Ed Bradley, Steve Ramsey, Charlie Shreeve , Floyd Welton who did such a great job of Organizing all of you together / for Karen House in her role as Player Representative, Charlie Allen as the Chaplin. And especially to Mayor Haslam, Joe Walsh, Norm Bragg , Jerry Dills the men who did such a wonderful job in taking care of the fields we played on, and Most Especially to the Sponsors Karaoke Cafe / Fagen Jewelers and all of you Media and TV Personalities who were so Great in getting our message out to the Public. YOU ALL ARE A GREAT TEAM AND MADE THIS PROGAM AND HUGE SUCCESS !
May God Bless all of you for making this program work for these wonderful Seniors.
Bud Nolan, Director

October 2nd

The highlight of our closing season was last night 10-02-08 at the Karaoke Cafe with over 36 attending while Nancy and I were there and we had to leave early as she was dead tired after her Dialysis treatment ! We had two Crooners in Fred Bright and his wife who recceived loud ovations for their performances ! The last day of play will be on 10-17-08, moved from thrs 10-16-08, to accomodate the Mayor Haslam.s wishes for us to play at his annual Mayors Day out program. This is a chance for all of you to show off your talents at a large crowd that will be there for this event. Please wear you Karaoke and Fagen shirts for this day. We will start again next year in April so be sure to get your Managers Phone numbers to keep in touch or our web site www.KnoxSenior Softball.com so that we can re-organize for play again.

It has been my Total Pleasure to have been with all of you for you great outreach to one another for Recreaction - Health - and Fun as you all played together with Great Respect and help to each other. It reached far beyond our expectations and Please recruit new players and Sponsors for next year. We owe a great debt of Gratitude to the Karaoke Cafe and Fagan Jewelers for their Great Support of Uniforms and just to be with us. A special Thanks to Karen House and Fred Bright who stepped up and took charge of things in my absence and to all the Managers who did such a Great Job with all of you. Our Organization was established for that purpose and it worked very well as you all took charge of things when others were absent. Mayor Haslam and his staff expressed their feelings to all of you at the Opening Exercise and they are very Proud of what you have done.

Our Director Board /  David Grimes - Debi Stovall - Fred Bright - Karen House - Colleen Adair and myself are SOOOOOOOOOO proud of each one of you for your help to make this a successful journey to continue from now on.

August 7th

The outing today was slim and we divided into two teams and played and had a lof of fun. On the regular Tues 12th get together the others who did not sign the Balls will have a chance to do so then along with getting the final arrangements for Thursdays Opening. BE SURE TO TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS ,FRIENDS  AND FAMILIES TO COME WATCH YOU PLAY ! The City will have the Concession Stands opened at 9:00 am that day until the final play is over.

July 29th

Today is another rain out day and obviously we could not get it on this web site as it was too late. However remember the phone No. of the Cities site 865-215-4636 as they are the first ones to post the rain outs and it was on early this morning.
Also remember that the games start at 9:30am now as you players voted to do so.
REMINDER: Our grand opening exercise is Aug. 14th 2008 starting at 10:00am !

Please, all 64 of you who are uniformed, make it a must on your calender to attend this Exercise as you all will be presented to those who come to see this program ! July 17th

NOTE : JULY 22ND & 24TH THERE WILL BE NO GAMES PLAYED !
The fields are being used for a clinic by UT !   Begin again on the 29th and 31st of July and on through Sept. The start time has been changed to 9:30 AM instead of 10:00 AM to accomodate the less heat and more play before noon. Grand Celebration will be in Mid August and we will let you all know just as soon as the Plans are finished.
Another Great Outing today 17th with 4-Teams all playing. One new player , John Schmidt of Knoxville. We now have 64 in uniform with 100 signed so all you who have signed be sure to come on the Tue 29th so that we can get you involved in the Grand Celebration.
Director, Bud Nolan

July 10th

Today was a rain out and hopefully all of you called the 865-215-4636 number before coming to the field. Those of you who know your Managers number can also call them when in doubt about a rain out ! Those who are not aware of either number can call me at 865-429-2044 . Even then I was at the park before finding out that it was cancelled. However the best advice is that if YOU THINK IT IS GOING TO RAIN AND HAVE A LONG DISTANCE TO DRIVE , JUST STAY HOME TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE ! Sorry for any inconvenience to you that came to the park to find out. See you Tues the 15th.
Bud Nolan, Director

July 8th

Tday 7-08-08 was another good turn out of over 40 players ! Each player team needs 13 per team to be complete so those of you who have been coming, but not regular, need to get signed up to a team. Once on that team you will always play there !
We are planning a Big Opening Day Celebration during the second or third week of Aug so everyone try to be at the play before then so that we can get you uniformed.
More information later when the date is finally set. We will be playing straight through Sept so there is plenty of time to joing and finish out the year playing. Tue & Thur at 10:00am at Caswell Park in Knoxville !
We would like the Health Care Industry to Sponsor 2 more teams before the Opening Day in Aug

Bud Nolan, Director

July 3rd

Today 7-03-08 another great outing as we now have 4 teams with players assigned with some 40 players playing. We now have 63 uniformed and playing and looking for 19 more players which will make us 6 teams total. Two new players Mary Lambing (lady) and David Stockwell of Knoxville and Seymour. Our DIrector Board voted on our 6th Director to the Board in Karen House who has and is still our player Rpresentative who works directly with or Gen. Field Mgr and Board Member , Fred Bright. Our Board met at the Park to set a date for the Grand Opening Display Event for the Knoxville Mayor and his staff to consider . They have a choice of Aug. 12-14-19-21 to choose and then we will Organize the event for all the communities to come and see the players play who represent all your communities. Watch for the Information.
You can call any member on the Web SIte for iInformation !

July 1st

Today, 7-01-08, was our finerst outing of the year ! We have players assigned to 4 teams with 38 in attenadance ! Our Mgrs. Ed Bradly-Steve Ramsey-Charlie Shreve and Floyd Welton had everything done to perfection ! Our Gen Mgr. Fred Bright and our Player Rep. Karen House did their usual good job of getting new players to the Mgrs for team selection. We had 4-new players in Hal Hoyt ( Oak Ridge ), Betty Loveday ( Newport ), Kathy Farrell ( Knoxville ) husband and wife team, and Eugene Yoder ( Knoxville ) ! We now have 60 people Uniformed to play with 98 signed on roster.
We are now entering the 6 (13 person) team and now need some new sponsors for their uniforms. For 1-Jersey , 1- Cap, a full 13 person team with Sponsor Name Logo on back - numbered with the Knox Senior Softball on front of shirt and cap the cost is $360.
For 2 (13 person ) teams or 26 shirts , Name-Numbers-Logo on back of shirts , Knox Senior Softball on front, and 26 caps the cost is $680 or $40 less than 2 teams above because of the diminishing Set Up charge for Name or Logo.
One can however support any number of uniforms by getting the costs from Bud Nolan.
With 2 more team sponsors our team numbers will increase to 8 and we will then have 108 players in this program. Thanks for our other two sponsors who have supported 82 players with uniforms ! Come out and see this program on Tue & Thur at Caswell Park at 10:00am in the morning and your will agree it is money well spent. We would like to have the Health and Medical Insurance Industry involved when you can see the improved health of your clients after playing here.

Bud Nolan, Director

June 26th

Another Great outing today of 36 players ! The Field Mgrs. are meeting after the game today to select all 36 players into 4- teams of 9 players each along with others who are regulars on the Tues outings. This means that you will be assigned to a Manager for all games so when you come to play you will go to the assigned Mgr. for play eliminating the choosing up method. Selections will be so players are equal in play and also Ladies will be equally distributed among the teams. Teams will have no more than 13 players which means all play and all bat yet if the team is short they can play with 9 and borrow from others. This makes for faster, equal and better play.We had one new player today in Ken Wood of Knoxville.

After Tues 7-1-08 all those of you who are not regular attendees will come and report to the Player Representative, Karen House, who will then get you organized with a team to play on and you will play and bat ! Once we get enough regulars to make a 5th & 6th team then the process of selection will begin over again.
We have 56 players shirted now who should be regular (meaning Tue or Thur attendance) so Please make an attempt to be there for one of the two days so that we can form teams easier. If any of you have decided not to play again and have shirt and cap issued to you would you pleased call Bud Nolan at 865-429-2044 / Pinkytwo1251@cs.com / and make arrangements to return the uniform so that they can be issued to those who are playing. We have a total of 96 signed and indicated interest but a number have never come to play. We encourage you to come along with any other walk ons as our season will go through the month of September. Then we will start again in April for the next season.
IF YOU WOULD COME AND PLAY AND SEE THE OUTSTANDING DIFFERENCE IN THE MOBILITY AND HEALTH IMPROVEMENTS OF THESE WHO ARE PLAYING SINCE THE START IN APRIL IT WILL MOTIVATE YOU TO ALSO COME AND ENJOY THE FUN-HEALTH-RECREATION !!
Bud Nolan, Director

June 24th

We again had 36 players and we made up 4-teams to play against one another ! Thursday 6-26-08 we will be forming 4 - regular player teams out of who is there and when the others ( new or already signed ) come later they will be assigned to one of the 4 teams accordingly. All other new or shirted players who have not been coming regular will be put on the floating roster and assigned to play on one of the 4 teams when they do come to play. ALL PEOPLE WILL PLAY AND BAT ALONG WITH THE OTHERS except they will not be assigned to a permanent team unless they are regular attendees. When we get enough regular players we will form the next 2 teams. Two new players Farrell Woody ( Male), Billie Duncan ( Female) both of Knoxville. We now have 56 shirted players and 96 signed to play. ALL NEW PLAYERS ARE WELCOME TO COME TO THE FIELD ON TUE - THUR 10:00 AM AND JOIN IN THE FUN AS WE WILL BE PLAYING THROUGH THE NEXT THREE MONTHS Bud Nolan, Director

June 19th

Thursdays outing made a selection of 4- 9 player teams and we need to add 3 each to those 4 teams. We are having several walk on players and hope that continues.
We need to make sure that all of you who have signed up to play and have Hats and Shirts assigned will come and play as often as you can to make sure we get you assigned to a team or teams. If you have decided now not to play with us then we need the shirts and hats turned in to us so that others can be issued them for play.
If you have decided to play as casual that is also welcomed but we need you to tell us so that we can plan on how to get you on a team when you come. We will be playing through the Summer into Oct. so there is plenty of time for new commers and also for our Regulars to know what the next season plans are for this league.
All comments can be directed to Bud Nolan, 865-429-2044, Pinkytwo1251@cs.com, so Please let me know your intentions. COME ONE COME ALL AND HAVE FUN WITH US.
Bud Nolan ,Director

June 17th

We had another great outing of 36 people and the weather was breezy and nice. The teams were divided up into 2 groups to play which meant 18 per team however it worked out fine. We do, however,  have 56 players uniformed which makes 14 per team of 4 teams and that works better considering the absentees at times.
Thursday the 4 Field Managers are going to choose specifically 9 people per team or 36 players in total which is what we ave. per outing. Those will always play for each of those Mgrs. regularily and the others will be distributed among the Mgrs. when they come to play. This makes a 4 team roster which will always play one another.
Every player still plays and bats but those who ar not regular will be distributed across the 4 teams as extras until they come full time.
We have 20 people who are not coming regular which could make 2 more teams whenever they come regular.
WELCOME ALL THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING US FOR PLAY AS FUN / RECREATION AND HEALTH IS OUR PLEDGE TO YOU !!
Bud Nolan ,Director

June 12th

Today we had a total of 24 players out of the 56 uniformed ones. The expected weather had a lot to do with those coming from distance which is understandable. We hope that the other 32 players will come on Tue 6-17-08 as we need to get the 4 teams completely formed. We had 4 new players today Evelyn Barger, LuAnne Zelasko ( Maryville) (Ladies) , Peter Dittner (Oak Ridge) , and Charlie Sheets (Men). We welcomed them aboard and they expressed their fun in playing. We had Visitors from Ohio who came to watch a friend playing. We Love to see new players coming in to have fun with all the others. ALL OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING THOUGHTS OF PLAYING NEED TO COME AND GET INTO THE ACTION LIKE THE OTHER NEW PEOPLE. Come and get the excercise and fun to regain your physical fitness!! Many of you can share rides with others when coming to play !
Bud Nolan /  Director

June 10th

We had a smaller turnout today as some thought it might rain and it was very hot ! Yet we had some 29 people and formed two teams and all played and had a lot of fun in spite of the heat. We had another 2 new walk on players Carson Barger (1937) and Fred Christoffer (1941) to join us and get suited up to play. They came to us from the Great Article that Lisette Kaczka of the Knoxville News wrote in the Sunday Sports Section . This makes 89 people signed up, 59 who come at different times and have been issued uniforms. We again ask that all of the 59 signees make an effort to come regular so that we can have a full 4 teams. If all of your could see the Health Improvements in these players who have been playing for 8 weeks it would boggle your mind. COME ON OUT / HAVE FUN / IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH
Bud Nolan , Director - Please call me for information that might want you to join us !
Bud Nolan, Director

June 5th

Another great day at the fields with 36 people there. Two new ones, Donald Johnson, and Bill Dietzler of Knoxville. We had 4 teams ave. 9 people each but some unbalance as we need 44 to make 11 per team minimum to be OK.  However each team shares their players in the field and it makes for great fun. We have 48 uniformed and 57 signed up to play but we would like to encourage the 48 uniformed to come as often as possible to make 12 per team. We can play well with 44 which means falling short of 4 players uniformed. We understand that some cannot come on one of the two days and that is fine but you others Please try to come often so we can have an even teams. WE ARE ALSO ENCOURAGING NEW PLAYERS TO COME AS WE HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM TO GET YOU INTO PLAY! ALL THAT IS NECESSSARY IS FOR YOU TO SHOW UP AT THE CASWELL SOFTBALL COMPLEX ON TUE & THUR AT 10:00 AM. I hope the Media People will make this announcement in their news so that we can get new people to come. Also Media and Sponsors we have room for you to come and play , as we waive, the age limit for you and even if you only play and inning or so. COME ON OUT AND JOIN US ! We are also having a few spectators coming now and encouraging all to come watch and take some part in the play. GREAT FACILITIES FOR SPECTATORS !!
Bud Nolan, Director

June 3rd

Today we had over 30 people of 47 uniformed to play. We had 3 new people to come for play and several spectators. Players had the most fun today and are greatly improving in their health. We encourage all 57 who have signed up to play to come on Tue / Thur. at 10:00am and for those 47 who are uniformed to make an effort to be there also ! We have orgainized into 4 teams and all play and bat each inning. Rain cancellations can be obtained by calling those on this Web Site or by calling the Cities number 865-215-4636. We have a committment from the Smokies AA Braves Baseball team to appear there as a pre-game exercise. Will be announced soon.
Bud Nolan , Director

29th May

Tue 5-27 & Thur 5-29 were Rain Outs called by the City.
Problem is the City calls at 9:00am to tell both Fred Bright and Bud Nolan of the Call Rain Out which is too late to reach everybody. The Plan announced at the last Thursday play 5-22 is that if at anytime it LOOKS TOO BAD BY YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT THEN DO NOT COME TO PLAY AS WE CANNOT REACH YOU IN TIME TO CALL IT OFF. That will make sure you dont come to play. No Problem
Or otherwise call Fred Bright 865-675-3296 or Bud Nolan 865-429-2044 at or before 9:00am to get advice. This is the only way we can be sure to reach all of you players before you start to the park ! The City has a number of 865-215-4636 but it is too late since it deals with the later Leagues but you can try
See you all on Tue 6-3-08 at 10:00 am but act accordingly to the above notice if it looks like rain.
Sorry for the in-convenience to some of you who did not know the above method.
Bud Nolan , Director

22nd May

We had a reasonable turnout today of 26 players ! However we need to concentrate on all  56 signees and 47 players with shirts to come on a regular basis so that the teams can be equalized. We understand that some will miss on one of the two days but Please try to be there on that one day you can come. Our format of play is to have four equal teams on the two different fields with the original format of all players playing and batting on each team until the last player bats and then change sides etc. This means that each player bats at least 4 times per game and plays all the time. No balls or strikes or umpires as each player has to hit the ball. If you cannot run to bases another player will run for you.
Worked well today and all are having fun and recreation as we had originally planned.

20th May

We had another great turnout today and we experimented with a 3 team concept that did not live up to its expectations ! Therefore we are going back to the original concept of playing and batting each player and then changing sides. This is being done by voting of the majority of the players. Be sure that all of you come to begin that play again on Thiursday 22nd of May at 10:00am. Since the City phone number for rain is too late being that we play at 10:00 am just use your judgment and if it looks to you like rain do not come. Not a problem ! One New Player walk on came today. We encourage all who want to exercise and play to come on out to the Caswell Park and join us on Tues & Thursdays at 10:00am.

13th May

Tue 5-13-08 was a great turnout of enough people for 3 teams ! We are now selecting players to account for 4 teams or 52 players and need to have all of you who have signed up to play and have never been at the Park, along with all walk ons
who want to play, to come out either Tue 5-20-08 and Thur 5-22-08 and join us at Caswell Park 10:00 am so that we can make more teams. We would like to eventually have 8 teams or 104 players.
We need more sponsors for uniforming 2 more 13 man / women teams. We also need sponsors for 41 Caps. Very reasonable sponsorships ! Call Bud Nolan 865-429-2044.

8th May

We had 31 players out today Thur 5-08-08,  37Players are uniformed, 53 are actively signed up, and we can uniform 45 more players. We need 41 more caps so if anyone wants to sponsor caps they are $8.48 each inc. tax. Just call 865-429-2044 if you would like to sponsor any number of caps. We have 15 Ladies actively playing so we encourage all you Ladies and Men to come on out and have fun playing on Tue & Thur at 10:00 am , at Caswell Park. No need to sign up just come and we will get you on the field of play.
Bud Nolan, Director

6th May

We had 32 of 48 people today and issued the new uniforms. The Players all welcomed back Doug Cunha after fractruing his shoulder 4 weeks ago. Mgrs chose up their teams and we had 4 new walk on players ! We can uniform 82 players so Thursday 5-08-08 we hope to see some more new faces at 10:am. If it looks like rain go to the City (426-info) line or our Web Site www.KnoxSeniorSoftball.com for information concerning cancellations or play !
Bud Nolan, Director
